LOVES

We joke that Gavin probably thinks he has 2 moms cuz my friend Kacie are together a lot. He LOVES to say her name and does it surprisingly well and he usually puts into at least one of our conversations each day when she's not around. It makes for some very funny stories... I could share a few of those on another day :) But he has really grown to love her son Cade. He has learned to be "soft with the baby" and gets very excited to see him. I can usually coax him into getting dressed, into his car seat, or anything else he doesn't want to do just by mentioning we're doing it so we can go see Kacie or Cade... it works every time and the whole time I'm dressing him he tells me "Kacie" and "baby". (Don't worry, I only use this tactic when we're actually going to see them) It's so cute. Anyway... I snapped a few pics of him giving Cade loves yesterday. I just loved them! I can't wait for Gavin to have a sibling someday... he's gonna be such a great big brother! (NO, this is not an announcement)

Rainy Season

This winter has been so much more mild than last... but unfortunately... at last... rainy season has begun.
But not to worry! There is plenty of cinnamon rolls and homemade play dough to go around!

NO more pacifier!!!

Yep... I cut the tip right off that bad boy yesterday... and let me tell you... Gavin handled it like a STUD! He put it in his mouth.. turned it around a few times... looked at it.. then threw it. He went right down for his nap and for bed last night without a problem... who knew it would be that easy! He has LOVED and ADORED those pacifiers more than anything he owns... and they calmed him in seconds when needed.... I figured it would be well worth the fight when I would finally have to break him from it. AT 16 months (yesterday) I figured it was time... what a FABULOUS surprise he gave me.... bring on the potty training :) j/k

Sid the Science Kid

I discovered my new FAVORITE show for Gavin to watch (and me of course) in the morning! Sid the Science Kid.... It's on at 8:30 every morning on PBS and I LOVE it! The animation is amazing! I just love watching how realistic his movements are! AND the best part is that it actually teaches your child something new everyday! I'm fascinated each morning as I learn a new way to teach Gavin something in a fun way! So when you're up feeding your little man (or woman) his breakfast... tune in! It's well worth it!

My new shop!

So, I've been on another sewing frenzy! This time I'm making little man neckties! I have been frustrated at the lack of assortment of ties out there... so I taught myself how to cut down man ties and also how to make them from scratch! It has taken a lot of time but I am proud to show you what I have created! So now all of you feel free to take a peak at my new etsy shop where you and your friends are welcome to custom create your own little man neckties! Or you can just send me your husbands old ties and I'll cut them down for you! (I also created these darling BYU ties but the fabric said for personal use only... so I don't feel comfortable selling them in my shop... so if you want one of those, just let me know! Anyway, hope you all enjoy my fun creations... here's how to take a peak... http://www.whileheissleeping.etsy.com/

(The ties above are all handmade from scratch... the ones below are man ties altered)

Update

I know I haven't posted in a while... we moved 2 or 3 weeks ago and I kinda got behind on everything! But life here is good! Gavin is getting older and smarter everyday! He's talking up a storm now and into everything! This last week has been a nightmare for him though... the poor guy got an ear infection and a cold! He was miserable... and so was I having to deal with him. It took me 6 days of crying and whining to finally take him to the doctor to find out what his problem was. I thought it was just his cold.... well, I wish he could have told me :) Anyway... things are great now and I'll post more later... just wanted to check in and say hi!
