SO hot!

Okay, so I had heard there wasn't air conditioning in Washington because obviously it is cool year round... but I didn't really believe no one has it... so when we moved here I was completely surprised to find no homes or apartments have it. Now those of you that know my husband and I well know we have come from the heart of California where we endured 100 + degree weather daily all summer long! But I don't think it prepared me for what these last few days have been like. I have never felt so hot and sticky in my life! Even with the windows open and fans on us at night... it's difficult to sleep. Poor Gavin wakes up for his naps with sweat dripping hair and back... I even let him sleep in just his diaper today... poor little guy! So the pool has been our paradise! Gavin screams as I lather on the sunblock and put him in his cute little swim suit but then he gets in the pool and the cute little smile returns! This is him on Saturday.. so cute!

8 months old!

Gavin is getting so big! I can't believe how much older he is looking these days! He's no longer a little baby... he's a toddler! Weird! He's 8 months old now... Time goes by so fast!

3. How long did you date? Good question... ummm... 5 or 6 months the first time... then 6 months 2 years later... then got married!

5. Who eats more? Me... my husband can go days without food... honestly, I have to remind him to eat... me on the other hand can't miss a meal!
6. Who said "I love you" first? Don't know... I just asked Devin if he remembers and he doesn't know either... he's trying to say he did :)

8. Who sings better? Probably me... Devin doesn't sing much
9. Who is smarter? Depends on the subject
10. Who's temper is worse? We both have equally strong personalities
11. Who does the laundry? Gavin and I :)
12. Who does the dishes? ME... I like them done a certain way... lame I know!
13. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? I do... it's closer to the door so I can get to the little guy at night... yes he still wakes up occasionally!
14. Who pays the bills? I do... I'm the one that gets the mail!
15. Who has bigger feet? Devin of course... I'd like to meet a woman with larger feet than her husband!

17. Who is better with the computer? He is... but we both wish we knew how to do more... luckly we live in the town of Microsoft... over half our ward can fix anything!

19. Who cooks dinner? I do... (remember how my husband wouldn't eat if I didn't remind him?) I LOVE to cook!
20. Who drives when you are together? Always Devin.. just seems right
21. Who pays when you go out? Devin... but it all comes from the same place, so it doesn’t matter.
22. Who is most stubborn? Pretty equal on that one!
23. Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? That's a hard question cuz we both usually honestly feel we are right and we end up finding a way to compromise
24. Whose parents do you see the most? Equally not enough! We've lived too far away

Greatest toy ever bought!

If I could recommend any toy to a new mom this would be it! Without it I would never get a shower, do my hair, put on makeup, or have the opportunity to eat our dinner in peace (for the most part!). Gavin loves being in it and he LOVES to jump and bounce to the music! It's well worth the money!

Rain Rain Go Away!

Unfortunately we are still suffering through this crazy rain and freezing cold weather! Each day Gavin is getting more and more frusterated about be stuck inside. Yesterday I ran out of things to do with him so as I was feeding him lunch I had the idea to put him in the bath with his lunch and let him go to town. Needless to say he had a blast... for a whole hour! I even got to clean the bathroom and organize a cupboard in their while watching him. If I knew it wouldn't start him on a new habit of playing with his food I would do this more often. If any of you have any other ideas of what I could do on these sad rainy days let me know! I'm desperate :)

Big Boy Carseat!

My little boy is getting so big... I can't believe it! We just upgraded him to the big convertable carseat... he loves it! So much more room and a better view out the window. He's growing up so fast!

Bath time

I realized I haven't posted any pictures lately, so here he is last night in the bath.... this boy loves his bath! (Check out his 4 teeth... the first one came in 3 weeks ago... a week later the other 3 popped up... poor guy)

Weather

So I was told it would be cooler in Seattle during the summer than I would be used to but this is crazy! It's been in the 50's and 60's for like 2 weeks.... when is the hot sun ever gonna show it's face here? It has rained for 4 days now :( Poor Gavin is getting so anxious cooped up in the house... he loves being outside more than anyone I know! Luckly these last few mornings have slowed to a light sprinkle so Gavin and I can still go running! But seriously the minute I get home the down poor begins... I think God knows I need to get my run in! Gavin likes it too cuz he at least gets to be outside, even if it's wrapped up in a long sleeve shirt, a hooded sweatshirt, sweatpants, and thick warm socks. (Poor kid runningwith his mom in 40-50 degree weather) Anyway, I hope all of you are enjoying sunshine where you are! I'm dying to play with Gavin in the pool.. so hopefully the sun will get here soon! So much for my summer tan!

First time alone....

So I got a call from Devins Aunt who lives nearby asking me if she could babysit for us this weekend... Even now I am uneasy leaving Gavin with anyone... I know I need to get over it and I never thought I would be that mother that couldn't trust my son to be out of my sight... but I am that mother... I recognize that. But for some odd reason I actually felt okay about leaving him with her (she is extremely calm and caring, and she has seen Gavin at his worst) I know she is capable of handling about any situation he could throw at her. So Friday night after I had layed him down to sleep Devin and I got to go out ALONE! Weird! We walked hand in hand through this gorgeous botanical garden and then got ice cream. Such a fun night! Then on saturday morning she came over and played with him while Devin and I went to the temple TOGETHER for the first time since he was born! What a treat! I know we need to do this more often, but I still need to get used to be okay with leaving him... baby steps I guess!

Wedding Photography

One of my girlfriends emailed me wanting to know who did my photography for my wedding and I loved my photographer but she was super expensive. I want to give her other options too. If any of you loved yours please let me know! (She's in utah)

I have this fabulous chocolate chip cookie recipe that I've been asked to share quite a few times... so here it is people... if you haven't tried them, they are worth making to taste! Yum! (thank Lisa Cowlishaw's sister Karen for it... I original got it from her!)

2 cups butter shortening
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 1/2 cups white suagr
4 eggs
2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
4 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 pkg chocolate chips (I like to use milk chocolate)

Bake 350 for 10-12 mins

*I usually half the recipe and it turns out great! Enjoy!

prices up even more

Okay, so the gas prices went up even more! Our gas station just went up to $4.07 for the low grade... sick :(

Gas prices!

Can you believe the gas prices lately! It just went up to 3.92 - 3.99 a gallon for the regular gas here! What are the prices where you all live?

Swim time!

Gavin got to experience the pool for the first time with his cousins! At first he screamed in fear and shock but soon enough he was splashing his little feet in delight! He loved the feel of the sun on his naked little body, something he definately wasn't used to in washington! I'm so glad to have warm weather again!

The Zoo

This last week all my sisters and I have gotten together in Oklahoma... this weekend we got to go to the zoo! Gavin was thrilled! I didn't know if he would acknowledge what was around him, but I've never seen him so excited and alert! We even had an awesome encounter with a big brown bear that posed for the picture! It was a great day!

Sunday

Gavin fell asleep this morning while I was feeding him and I couldn't get him to wake up, so I layed him down next to his sleeping father. I slid back into my sheets and looked over to see this... I couldn't help but take a picture of this sweet moment... the 2 loves in my life :) I am overwhelmed with how blessed I am. What a wonderful start to a sunday! ( by the way, check out the sweet smile Gavin has on his face... I love those little smiles they give while they sleep!)



We had an amazing Stake Conference today where Elder Holland came and spoke to us! We were so lucky to have him! It was an unforgettable meeting with such a strong spirit! Later that afternoon it was actually sunny outside so we took Gavin to the park for the first time! It's hard to tell from all his serious faced pictures but he had a great time! I can't wait for summer to come!

Company!

My little sister Holly and her husband Phil came to visit this weekend! It was so fun to show them all the fun things about Seattle! We went to Pike's Market and the Mariners vs. Oakland A's baseball game on Saturday. The flowers were gorgeous! I wanted to take them all home! The fish throwing was fun! And the baseball game was great (except for Gavin crying through the whole game). Best of all I got to see my baby sister 6 months pregnant! Yeah! What a great weekend!

The Office

Every time Devin and I watch the office we wonder why it's not an hour long... it's saddening... I hate that we have to wait a whole week for that fabulous 30 minutes of laughter

Cutest thing

So, Gavin has started the cutest thing the last few days... when he gets mad he bables on in his own language with a very mad face... it goes something like this "oooh gaa goo blah blah ahh aah" and then ends with a very loud (and my favorite part) "mmmmm... maaaa"! I love it cuz it sounds like he's saying ma and yelling at me! He does this especially when he's tired and doesn't want to be strapped into his car seat! I can't wait til he starts saying mama for real :)
